4th On-site Capacity Building Workshop
International Workshop on Protected Area Management and Mangrove Restoration with Community Livelihood Enhancement
The 4th On-Site Training, titled “International Workshop on Protected Area Management and Mangrove Restoration with Community Livelihood Enhancement,” was held on November 28–29, 2024, at the Manggala Wanabakti Building, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Indonesia, with 96 participants in attendance. The meeting brought together experts, policymakers, private sectors, and NGOs including KOICA, JICA and USAID to discuss mangrove restoration, biodiversity conservation, sustainable management of protected areas.
On November 28, the symposium featured keynote speeches, expert discussions, and panel sessions focusing on forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, non-timber forest products (NTFPs), and private sector engagement in mangrove restoration. The sessions highlighted best practices, policy frameworks, and community-driven initiatives for sustainable environmental management.
On November 29, a field excursion to Pulau Seribu National Park provided participants with hands-on experience in conservation efforts. Activities included turtle conservation, waste management workshops, and coral reef restoration, emphasizing community participation and ecosystem sustainability. The event successfully reinforced the integration of scientific research with local conservation efforts, promoting sustainable environmental practices and livelihood enhancement.
