5th On-Site Capacity Building Workshop

Innovative Approaches to the Livestock Industry

The International Symposium on “Innovative Approaches to the Livestock Industry” was held on 21 January 2025 at the IPB International Convention Center in Bogor, as part of the 5th On Site Capacity Building Program. The meeting was jointly organized by IPB University and Seoul National University, serving as a strategic platform for sharing research insights and best practices in livestock innovation and food security between the two countries.

A total of 10 invited speakers, seven from Indonesia and three from Republic of Korea delivered presentations across three plenary sessions, moderated by leading professors from both institutions. Key themes discussed included Methane emission mitigation and climate-resilient livestock systems; Functional feed innovations and sustainable poultry nutrition; Dairy productivity, livestock vaccine technologies, and embryo transfer methods; Food safety systems and insect-based protein as alternative feed, Genetic improvement of local livestock breeds.

The symposium emphasized the importance of integrating advanced technologies, evidence-based policy, and community-centered approaches to strengthen sustainable food systems. The event concluded with a wrap-up session summarizing key takeaways to support long-term collaboration and the goal of achieving food and nutrition security for Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045.
