7th On-site Capacity Building Workshop (2026 NICAB Workshop)
Enhancing Cutting-Edge Bioscience Research through Advanced Scientific Infrastructure in Indonesia
The 7th On-Site Capacity Building Workshop (2026 NICAB Workshop), titled “Enhancing Cutting-Edge Bioscience Research through Advanced Scientific Infrastructure in Indonesia”, was held from July 22 to 24, 2026, at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC) in Bogor, Indonesia, as part of the KOICA-supported Capacity Building for the Center for Agriculture and Bioscience of IPB University in Indonesia project (KOICA–ICAB Project). The workshop aimed to strengthen research capacity in agriculture and bioscience and expand research collaboration among universities, research institutions, government agencies, and industry in Korea and Indonesia.
A total of 215 participants attended the workshop, including faculty members, researchers, and industry representatives from 18 universities in Korea and Indonesia, as well as government agencies, including the Ministry of Education, research institutions, and industry. In addition, 20 organizations, including universities, research institutions, scientific equipment companies, and analytical service providers from both countries, operated exhibition booths to showcase their research activities, advanced scientific instruments, and analytical technologies while exploring opportunities for institutional collaboration.
The workshop strengthened collaborative networks among researchers and relevant institutions in Korea and Indonesia and facilitated the exchange of experience and best practices in the utilization of advanced scientific infrastructure. It also laid the groundwork for expanding joint research between the two countries and contributed to strengthening Indonesia’s research capacity in agriculture and bioscience, as well as fostering a sustainable research ecosystem.
