NICAB CONSTRUCTION

NICAB CONSTRUCTION

Introduction to NICAB

Indonesia’s agriculture and life sciences sectors are experiencing rapid development. However, several challenges remain, including limited operational capacity for research equipment, lack of skilled personnel, and inadequate management systems. While the introduction of advanced technologies is steadily increasing, equipment utilization remains low, resulting in limited research outputs.

These challenges underscore the need for systematic and continuous support, not only in infrastructure provision but also in human resource development and the establishment of effective management frameworks. In response, the KOICA-ICAB Project aims to establish the National Instrumentation Center for Agriculture and Bioscience (NICAB), in order to enhance research and operational capacities in agriculture and bioscience in Indonesia.

1st Floor

Public Access & Core Laboratory Functions

The first floor acts as the main public interface and entry point, with the lobby, lounge, reception, and security areas. It includes primary circulation corridors and hosts major lab workflows such as sample receiving and wet, dry, organic, and inorganic preparation. Advanced analysis laboratories like the Nano Imaging Lab, Metabolomics Lab, and Agro-Maritime Analysis Lab—are also located here. Support spaces include full toilet facilities, a cafeteria, sample/freezer/chemical storage, and utilities like the panel room, gas storage, and waste station.

2nd Floor

Collaborative Workspace & Intermediate Labs

The second floor focuses on administrative and collaborative functions, providing spacious co-working spaces and the main data/IT infrastructure through the server room. Circulation is supported by both public and service corridors. Laboratory functions include reagent storage and several specialized laboratories such as Sample Prep and Molecular Analysis. In addition, the floor provides standard toilet facilities and essential utilities such as the panel room, general storage, and gas station. Vertical connections are maintained through elevators and stairs.

3rd Floor

Quiet Work Zones & Specialized Support

The third floor provides a quieter environment for focused work, offering co-working areas and a dedicated prayer room. Circulation mirrors the lower floors with standard and service corridors, supported by elevator and stair access. This level includes reagent and consumable storage to assist ongoing lab activities, along with essential utilities such as the panel room and general storage. Standard toilet facilities are also provided for user convenience.
