Ph.D Program in Seoul National University
Overview
The KOICA-ICAB Ph.D. Program is a scholarship initiative that enables faculty staff and lecturers from IPB University to pursue Ph.D. studies at Seoul National University (SNU). Fully funded by KOICA, this program focuses on advancing expertise in agriculture and biosciences.
Upon completing their Ph.D., the faculty members will return to IPB University, where they will apply their expertise to enhance academic excellence, drive innovative research, and contribute to the development of Indonesia’s agricultural and bioscience sectors. Currently, four faculty members from IPB are undertaking their Ph.D. studies at SNU under this program.
Background
Among the total of 1,304 faculty members of IPB University, only 870 possess a doctoral degree. Around 430 faculty members (33%) are still at the master’s degree level. This poses limitations on providing high-quality educational curricula and also imposes constraints on international research achievements and advanced paper publications. With support from KOICA, Seoul National University hosts select master’s level faculty to pursue their Ph.D. at the world-class institution.
